Tremonti lose US Tour withigh energy finale in Los Angeles
Tremonti showed no signs of wear and tear during the final stop of their latest U.S. tour on Tuesday night (March 5) in Los Angeles. There was plenty of energy in the Roxy as the band roared through a powerful set for a packed house.
The band opened their set with the hard hitting ‘All I Was’ album opener ‘Leave It Alone’ and settled into their hard-rocking groove with ‘Giving Up.’ Frontman Mark Tremonti and guitarist Eric Friedman took turns throughout the night keeping the audience fully involved, whether it be through getting the crowd to clap along or asking for some vocal assistance. Of course, the latter request was at its loudest during the performance of their singles ‘So You’re Afraid,’ ‘Wish You Well’ and especially on ‘You Waste Your Time,’ which came toward the end of their set.
Other standouts included the more melancholy track ‘The Things I’ve Seen’ and the performance of two non-album cuts — ‘All That I’ve Got’ and ‘Gone.’ The former provided a mixture of Garrett Whitlock power drumming and Wolfgang Van Halen bass licks that you could feel pulsating through your body. There was also some nifty choreographed headbanging between Tremonti, Van Halen and Friedman during the performance. Meanwhile, the latter non-album track, ‘Gone,’ provided a rocking start to the band’s encore.
With it being the final show of their tour (and likely the last performance for quite some time as Mark Tremonti moves his focus toward Alter Bridge), the frontman took the time to address his admiration and respect for his bandmate, who have become some of his best friends. At one point, he singled out Van Halen, calling him “a master” and having him lay down a quick bass solo. Friedman got plenty of love throughout the night as it was a hometown show for the guitarist. And Whitlock’s ferocity behind the kit was on display throughout.
The performance wrapped with Mark Tremonti acknowledging and getting the audience to shout out that ‘Brains’ would be the last song of the trek. With that in mind, the band rocked the track for all it was worth as audience members pogoed and headbanged in unison with the beats. Our photo gallery from the show can be seen below.
Tremonti has already stated that Alter Bridge will take precedence for the remainder of the year, but he recently hinted that if there was a break in the schedule after recording and before touring, there might be a chance for more Tremonti shows.

Mark Tremonti talks to Billboard about new Alter Bridge Album
Mark Tremonti is currently winding down the latest North American tour leg for his self-titled band, and Alter Bridge are about to become his primary focus. The guitarist tells Billboard that after meeting briefly earlier this year, the band is ready to resume work on a new disc and has the beginnings of the effort in place.
He explained, “[We have] about five songs outlined [for the new album] … All of them are kind of real high-energy, just real fun rock/metal. We want to not be predictable. We want to make it a little surprising and we’re having fun with it.”
At present, Alter Bridge are planning to regroup in late April and hope to begin recording their new album in earnest this summer, with a tour tentatively slated for September.
As for the Tremonti band and their plans, the guitarist admits that he might line up some shows during breaks in Alter Bridge’s schedule, just as frontman Myles Kennedy is planning to do with Slash. “It’s always good when you’re recording a record to go take a break and come back,” says the guitarist. “That way you can make sure it’s still exciting and fresh to you.”
The rocker says he’s also thinking about a second album from Tremonti, but admits that it will take a back seat to his other bands for the immediate future. “We’re going to just keep pushing the limits of what we can do,” says Tremonti. “We’ll try to be as heavy and progressive as we can without losing the vocal melodies and the reasons why most people listen to music. I don’t want to be just self-indulgent, but we want to have a lot of fun with it, too.”
And as for his other band, Creed, Tremonti simply states, “It’s Alter Bridge’s year.”
Alter Bridge fourth album News
Mark Tremonti is spending plenty of time on the road these days with his own band and promoting his first-ever solo album, "All I Was." But his mind is also on Alter Bridge, which started work on its fourth studio album last month.
The guitarist tells Billboard the quartet has "about five songs outlined" for the set so far, and he reports that "all of them are kind of real high-energy, just real fun rock/metal. We want to not be predictable; we want to make it a little surprising, and we're having fun with it."
Tremonti says Alter Bridge plans to return to the studio during late April "and record throughout the summer," with the band planning to hit the road in September.
He might also line up some Tremonti shows during that time, however, while frontman Myles Kennedy plays dates with Slash. "It's always good when you're recording a record to go take a break and come back," Tremonti says. "That way you can make sure it's still exciting and fresh to you."
Tremonti, meanwhile, is happy with the reception he's getting for "All I Was" and his solo band, which now includes Wolfgang Van Halen on bass, replacing Tremonti's Creed/Alter Bridge mate Brian Marshall, who had to drop out for personal reasons.
"I feel like it's really gotten some traction now," he says. "I think doubling back, doing a few tours on it now, the crowds are growing. People are becoming more familiar with the songs. It's exciting to see things spreading." Tremonti, he adds, "is a completely different feel. Each band, to me, feels like a new band and a new challenge. It's definitely keeping me on my toes, especially having to keep recreating new sounds for each band."
