SCOTT WEILAND COMMENTS ON ROBERT DELEO PERFORMING WITH SLASH

Scott Weiland briefly discussed his ex-bandmates Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots) and Slash (Velvet Revolver) performing together with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry on Sunday at his show last night in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He mentioned that they had played together recently, and that he loves all of the musicians he has played with in his career. Weiland added that he was not going to make any jokes and that he was being serious when saying he loves all the musicians he’s played with. Some fans interpreted that Weiland was being sincere, while some think he may have been sarcastic, but he didn’t say anything negative about Slash or DeLeo.

Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo performed with Aerosmith members Steven Tyler and Joe Perry yesterday in Los Angeles at the Stuart House Benefit, with Brian Tichy on drums. Former Velvet Revolver/Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash also performed “Mama Kin” with them. Video of that song still hasn’t surfaced. This was the first time members of Scott Weiland’s two bands bands that he was fired from, Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, have performed together. Tyler introduced “Dream On” by jokingly saying, “Here’s a song we just wrote for this occasion, by Robert.”

This isn’t the first time Robert DeLeo has performed with Aerosmith members. Robert and Dean DeLeo performed with Steven Tyler on American Idol in May 2011. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry also joined Stone Temple Pilots onstage at the band’s iconic performance at Madison Square Garden in November 1996, a show that is widely regarded as one of STP’s best. STP have also opened for Aerosmith in the past, including a fall 2002 North American tour.

Stone Temple Pilots Bassist Robert DeLeo perform with Slash

Scott Weiland’s worst nightmare has come true, members of the two bands he was fired from have joined forces. Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo played with former Velvet Revolver/Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash yesterday. They were joined by Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Brian Tichy. The group of legendary musicians were rehearsing for a performance at the Varvados Stuart House Charity Auction, which takes place today.
