SCOTT WEILAND COMMENTS ON ROBERT DELEO PERFORMING WITH SLASH
Scott Weiland briefly discussed his ex-bandmates Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots) and Slash (Velvet Revolver) performing together with Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry on Sunday at his show last night in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He mentioned that they had played together recently, and that he loves all of the musicians he has played with in his career. Weiland added that he was not going to make any jokes and that he was being serious when saying he loves all the musicians he’s played with. Some fans interpreted that Weiland was being sincere, while some think he may have been sarcastic, but he didn’t say anything negative about Slash or DeLeo.
REVIEWS FROM SCOTT WEILAND’S “PURPLE AT THE CORE” SHOW LAST NIGHT IN NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY
Here are some fan reviews commented regarding Scott Weiland’s performance last night in New Brunswick, New Jersey:
Sklashboombash commented the following review on Belowempty:
“Ok. Here’s my two cents. Contrary to recent reports, Scott’s vocals weren’t bad. Was he the best he’s been? No. But he sang pretty well. We all know his voice has gotten more and more nasally over the years, so he kept on that path. There were a couple of botched lyrics, but again, nothing new…and nothing atrocious either. He talked plenty in between songs, sometimes too much for the crowd’s restlessness. He even brought up the Slash & Rob jam with Aerosmith. You can hear it in his voice, it bothered him It was sad at times to hear him talk about STP memories, about what those songs mean to him all the while none of those guys are standing there with him. Which brings me to the next point…his band. Oh my! Scott’s performance with a GOOD band would’ve resulted in a good evening. These guys are just not that good. The drummer constantly missed cues. Doug over plays on EVERY SONG. Jeez!!!!! Give it a rest. Not every song is meant to have a lead guitar noodling all throughout. If you’re going to play STP songs, then, I’m sorry to break it to you, but you HAVE TO LEARN HOW THEY GO. I’m all about trying something different and re-imagining a song, but this was not that. A talent like Scott Weiland (who’s sold millions of records and played with the level of talent that he has in STP & VR) should have no issue getting real professional musicians in a band. How is it possible that he doesn’t realize what this sounds like? Shows like this, despite HIS performance not being bad, really hurt his legacy, reputation and do nothing for his already tainted public perception. Tonight, it wasn’t his fault. This band of his shoulders 100% of the blame. With all that said, to be fair, there were some highlights. I thought Kitchenware & Candybars, Jean Genie & Paralysis were some of the better tunes, as a whole. Again, Scott sounded pretty consistent. But there’s only so much he can do to save the sloppy band behind him. For all the flack that Axl gets for his band of guns for hire (no pun intended), like it or hate it, at least he went out and got guys that could play the songs properly. And you’re right, when we’re used to having the (as you called them) masters play these songs, most would pale in comparison, but even something like Roadhouse Blues was butchered. ”
CoreurpletinyNo4Shangriy commented this review on Belowempty:
“I just got home from seeing Scott (and the Wildabouts) at the State Theatre.I am still in (blind) confusion. To say something though, I feel bad for Scott, My favorite frontman ever. The band is made up of talented musicians, and Scott’s voice was top notch tonight, but something about the set and the theater atmosphere filled with ass-holes, really brought the mood down. I did not enjoy this show as much as I anticipated. When I looked back, I saw empty seats and people yelling foul things to Scott and the band. They even got a new drummer for whatever reason (Original Wildabouts Drummer was Sick? Quit the band?). Scott went on rambles after each song, and the audience HATED that. I could not understand a word coming out of his mouth because of all the boos and putdowns. Scott should NOT be doing STP songs live with his band either, especially at a theater venue. It just seemed depressing hearing watered down versions of STP songs. The band really only performs solo/covers well. Scott should really do his solo material and focus more on a new record, and try to build this band from the ground up. Relying on the past will NOT get him anywhere. I know for a fact that 75% of the people in that venue lost respect for Scott. It is quite heartbreaking for me knowing that Scott’s legacy is coming down fast. I even heard that Scott had to be carried to his tour RV after the show tonight. He did seem very loopy on-stage. Not a drunk type though. Not going to jump to conclusions here but… Read between the lines. That’s all I have to say. If Scott comes to a bar or venue like the Stone Pony again touring for his new “Punk” album, I’ll go and see him. If he continues “Purple to the Core”, even a diehard fan like me will not go. It saddens me, and I’m sure it saddens Scott deep down inside too.”
Christina Stanley Salerno commented this review on Scott Weiland’s official Facebook page:
“The show in NJ was awesome. cant say the same about the crowd. thanks for being u. you rocked it, regardless. Congrats on your engagement.”
Bryan commented this review on Grungereport.net:
“Good show. Scott seemed sincere and was trying to tell some of the story behind the songs and people were so rude. One jackass behind me kept yelling for Sin. I’ve seen STP and Scott solo many times and this crowd may take the cake for the biggest bunch of pricks and that’s even after the Grammercy show where all people wanted to hear was STP.”

Stone Temple Pilots Official Website
Stone Temple Pilots have deleted everything on their official website StoneTemplePilots.com, and have replaced it with a large message containing their short February 27th press release announcing the firing of Scott Weiland. Weiland has disputed in the press that he’s been fired, proclaiming that he is still STP’s frontman.

SCOTT WEILAND PRAISES PRESIDENT OBAMA, ADMITS HE STILL DRINKS & RANTS ABOUT GRUNGE
Possible Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland went on a long rant at his solo show last night in Washington DC. Numerous fans on Twitter claimed Weiland was drunk during his performance. chloesdad said on the BelowEmpty.com forums, “I’ve seen more STP/VR/Scott solo then I can count and this was by far the most painful show I’ve ever been to and that includes a show in which he didn’t even show up (Tampa 2008).”
Weiland’s rant included his thoughts on President Obama, “I think we have an amazing President, he’s just amazing.” He also said, “You’re thinking Scott Weiland is on drugs again…no that was 11 years ago, but I still drink…” This led into a bizarre rant about blogs, which included him asking what a blog was and proclaiming “Peter Jennings is awesome.”
Weiland also discussed Grunge, “People called it Grunge, but it wasn’t Grunge…it was going on everywhere.” Weiland seemed to be talking about how Seattle gets the most attention when it comes to the Grunge era. chloesdad said on BelowEmpty.com regarding Weiland’s rants, “Definitely went on rants that made little to no sense.”

Scott Weiland poor performance in New York. This tour was realy necessary??
Above is a video from Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts’ show in New York on Saturday at Irving Plaza, butchering Stone Temple Pilots’ epic 8 minute Core album closer “Where The River Goes” followed by a cover of Jane’s Addiction’s “Mountain Song.” Sad to see one of my favorite STP songs performed like that, we as always are still rooting for Scott. He’s a great performer and good guy, but obviously something is not right about what’s been going on during this tour. Below is video of “Naked Sunday.”

Stone Temple Pilots Bassist Robert DeLeo perform with Slash
Scott Weiland’s worst nightmare has come true, members of the two bands he was fired from have joined forces. Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo played with former Velvet Revolver/Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash yesterday. They were joined by Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, and Brian Tichy. The group of legendary musicians were rehearsing for a performance at the Varvados Stuart House Charity Auction, which takes place today.
Scott Weiland - New York at Irving Plaza 9 March 2013
Scott Weiland challenged a fan to a fight at his show last night in New York at Irving Plaza. The fan had been heckling Weiland. Weiland called out the fan to come on stage, “So you’re fuckin’ pulling that fuckin’ like gun shit off on me? Then come up and meet me one on one man. You play tough guy from an audience behind a barricade. [talking to security guard regarding fighting him] I’d love to. Yeah, that guy. Trust me. And just don’t forget it guys like you fuckin’ waste your money. I mean, actually, let him stay here, and just get all fuckin’ riled up. He won’t be able to sleep tonight.”

Scott Weiland interviewed by SPIN says he feels like moboby IS rooting for him
SPIN have a fantastic new interview up with possible Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland. This is the best interview I’ve seen Weiland give in awhile, we are rooting for you Scott!
On the Grunge movement: “Rocketing to success overnight was what you dreamed of, but there’s no way to prepare yourself for it. I don’t think there’ll ever be a time like that again: My band, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam and Soundgarden and Smashing Pumpkins going from indie bands or big local bands and regional bands to being rock stars overnight. It was a pretty magical time. At that point, people were buying CDs and even cassettes. We were selling multi-platinum albums. I think people who are younger look back at that as the last huge organic movement, and people like me or those who are sort of left, there’s a rock’n'roll story that goes along with it — the resurgence of drugs within that culture. It was a perfect storm for a lot of people. There are a lot of people that were casualties though, and that’s what was really unfortunate about it.”
On his past drug addiction: “People would come up to me and say, “Scott, people really root for you.” I haven’t heard that in a long time, and I don’t know why. It was a very special thing that people would say, and I would hear it all the time. But the interesting thing is that it’s been almost 11 years since I used drugs, and I don’t really hear it [anymore] except from my friends. There’s another side of it that I take personally. For example, we had to cross into Canada last night to make it to the show in Niagara Falls, and we went to the border crossing. There was this really cool [customs official], and he took our passports and he asked us if we had anything to declare. We told him we had a little bit of food, a little bit of beverages, and on days off, some of the guys in the band would play some paintball. So we thought everything was cool. He says, “Just pull over on the side for the routine inspection.” So we pull over to the side, and as luck would have it, this Mr. Mountie Friendly read us the inquisition about past transgressions decades long-gone. That’s a life I barely recognize anymore, and the point is, I’ve been on tour throughout Canada over the last couple decades many, many times. I’ve never been treated that way before. It was kind of shocking, and it was actually kind of humiliating.”

Scott Weiland: Stone Temple Pilots news
Scott Weiland continues to claim that Stone Temple Pilots are together and he’s still the lead singer, but he has admitted to SPIN that the band need to work on some problems, “There are some issues that have to be worked out with STP, but they’re the same issues that have been going on since the end of the last tour. Nobody in the band can be fired. No one’s ever fired anybody, and no one’s ever quit the band.”
Weiland added, “[STP] really have been together a long time, and I’m proud of that. I really do like those guys, and it hurts my feelings when we aren’t getting along, because I view them as family.”
STP released a statement last week saying that they had fired Weiland. Weiland responded by proclaiming that he is still STP’s frontman, and that the firing is just a publicity stunt to boost ticket sales.

Scott Weiland says he turned down a 6 months STP tour wich led to tension in band
Rocketboy posted his fan encounter with Scott Weiland after the possible STP frontman’s solo show last night in Michigan on the BelowEmpty.com forums. He said that the guys wanted to do a big 26 week tour, May-December (2012, I assume), but Scott said he wasn’t up for it – he really wanted to take a break and be with his family for a bit, because he hasn’t taken much of a vacation the last few years and the boys weren’t happy about it.
He also reiterated that the firing stuff is nonsense and he can’t be fired, as it is stated in their contracts.

The show went pretty smooth with Scott hitting the stage at about 1045…he seemed in high spirits playing with his solo band, as he gave them praise throughout. He did not mention anything to do with STP at all during the show. Some of the stp tunes that they played seemed improvised (during the solos) where Scott would call for an extra bar or 2 to get back into place (as if he was just used to hearing the straight STP versions). He seemed to also kind of yammer on alot, almost if he was drunk/high….yet on stage he was only drinking water or gatorade. Overall, he seemed gracious to the crowd and also stated that this first show is one of the coolest to be at because its like the “last rehearsal” before they get everything straight.

STP’s frontman, says his firing is a publicity stunt to boost ticket sales
In his first interview since Stone Temple Pilots released a statement saying they had fired him, Scott Weiland told TMZ that STP is still together and he is still the frontman. STP released a statement on Wednesday that said, “Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland – no further information is available at this time.” But don’t worry everybody, Scott says he is still fronting the band and everything is okay! He also said the following:
“STP is not broken up, it’s a whole thing to just try to boost ticket sales.”
“There’s a thing written in our contract, no one can be fired.”
“I haven’t talked to them for awhile, but they were trying to get shows put together but we [my solo band] already had our [Purple to the Core] tour.”
“They’ve done a lot of stuff like [firing announcement] that in the past before, it’s just kind of the way they roll.”
“I haven’t been doing any of that bad stuff in a long time, I drink some. But I don’t drink and drive, I’m fine I’m all good.”

Scott Weiland says STP had disagrement over tour offers, talks showing up late to shows
Rolling Stone have published their full interview with former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland. The interview was done on Tuesday night, just hours before Stone Temple Pilots confirmed that they had fired Weiland.
On Slash saying STP fired him: “Oh, no no no. Slash doesn’t know anything about STP. Those guys wanted to get together to talk about touring, but I don’t think touring right now is the best thing. STP has a legacy, and to protect that is very, very important to me. But to go and do the kind of offers that we were getting would be diminishing the brand, and I don’t want to do that. There are offers right now. There are offers that I passed up on. There’s offers that those guys didn’t want as well. There were some hurt egos, but that’s the way it is. Things are like a family. No one’s ever fired anybody in STP.”
“As far as STP is concerned, it’s a partnership. It’s always been that way. It’s not a situation where . . . I started the band. I’m not tooting my own horn in any way. It’s a thing that was started by my old guitar player and Robert [DeLeo], and we’ve always kept things going. We’ve gone and taken time off before. They’ve done their own band. If they do another project, obviously not under the name STP, just like I’m doing my own solo thing right now, that would be great. I’ve always supported them. But no one’s been fired, and I haven’t quit. So that’s all hearsay.”
On his reputation of being difficult to work with: “Yeah, I think it’s kind of unfair. I mean, I’ve been difficult in the past. I think most of that has to do with with, you know, the 1990s . . . that sort of stuff that came from that decade. But it’s difficult. Do I show up onstage late sometimes? That’s something I could definitely work on. I’m human. Is there a person that shows up to work perfectly on time every day? I suppose there’s a perfect attendance award that’s given out to some employees at some place, but . . . it’s something that . . . I think that a majority of it has to do with things from the past. People read things on Google and they have these perceptions, these misconceived perceptions of who you are. At times that hurts, because they really don’t know who I am.”
